At the appointed time God sent his son. Two thousand years ago Christ came and dwelt among men. John the Baptist, a prophet that appeared in the spirit and power of Elijah, was at the river Jordan located in Israel baptizing disciples.
John's sole mission was to prepare the way for the coming of the messiah. When John first saw Christ, being led by the holy spirit he boldly declared
Behold the:
--Lamb--Of--God--
which taketh away the sins of the whole world.
It was at that time that God's spirit came down from heaven in the form of a dove and rested on his anointed one Jesus Christ, God's perfect sacrifice who had been ordained to be slain before the foundation of the world. God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself. The word had become flesh and we beheld his glory, as the only begotten of the father. |
