The Freemasons

The Master of the Royal Secret

"The Occult Science of the Ancient Magi was concealed under the shadows of the Ancient Mysteries: it was imperfectly revealed or rather disfigured by the Gnostics: it is guessed at under the obscurities that cover the pretended crimes of the Templars; and it is found enveloped in enigmas that seem impenetrable, in the Rites of the Highest Masonry."

"Magism was the Science of Abraham and Orpheus, of Confucius and Zoroaster. . . ."
The Rite of the XXXII Degree of Masonry. [1]

Last month I promised to tell you the secret of secrets, and I concluded my letter asking the question:

"What is the religion of Freemasonry?"

Why is it important that we understand Freemasonry? Because, as I pointed out last month, the Brotherhood controlled the United States Supreme Court between 1941 and 1971 and removed God and prayer from public schools and public places. [2] Furthermore, 6 of our last 11 Presidents have been Masons, and another President was a member of the DeMolays, a Masonic club for boys. [3]

If you read the book 10,000 Famous Freemasons you will find that most of our state governors, judges, military leaders, prominent bankers, industrialists, educators, and media owners either have been or are members of the Craft. [4] According to Father Malachi Martin, a former Jesuit Priest, and confidant of several Popes, the Masons have infiltrated the hierarchy of the Catholic Church. In his novel, Windswept House, he described a Satanic ritual in the basement of the Vatican, and the apostasy of some Catholic Bishops and Catholic Cardinals. [5] Protestants should also be concerned since many Protestant ministers and Protestant leaders are Freemasons. When the Southern Baptist Convention voted to authorize a study of the influence of Freemasonry within the Church, their leaders selected a man closely affiliated with the Brotherhood to carry out their investigation. [6]

What do Freemasons believe? Their creed can be discovered in the Occult Science of the Ancient Magi which became the religion of both Confucius and Zoroaster. [7]

Freemasonry is one of many apostate religions dedicated to the destruction of traditional Judaism and Christianity. The Torah taught Jews to love God, and keep his commandments. If they sinned, redemption was available through a blood sacrifice that brought forgiveness. Christianity teaches that men are sinful and unable to keep God's commandments. Therefore, God came to earth to become a blood sacrifice for mankind in the person of His son, Jesus Christ, and redemption is available to those who believe in Him. Both religions are founded on the Ten Commandments and the love of God, but Christianity emphasizes that we should love one another and forgive our enemies. Both religions are straightforward and contain no hidden secrets, but through the ages there have been efforts to alter their creeds. The Kabalah was designed to superimpose mysticism on Judaism, and the Gnostics hoped to subvert Christianity with their heretical beliefs. Both groups continue their efforts to this day. [8]

Many religions promote the concept that men are perfectible, can become like God, and can even become god. Freemasonry teaches that precept. [9] The stark difference between Christian teaching and Masonic teaching can be seen in the way the two religions interpret the events that took place in the Garden of Eden. In Genesis we read:

"So God created man in his own image . . . male and female created he them." [10]

"And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, 'Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.'" [11]

"Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die. For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." [12]

Eve recognized that the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was not only good to eat, but that:

". . . it was a tree to be desired to make one wise . . ." so she "took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her: and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. . . ." [13]

Why did Eve disobey God? Because she wanted to have her eyes opened, and to be as (the) gods, knowing good and evil. Why did she desire to know evil? Because she thought it might provide something that was not available in Eden. The desire for the unknown has motivated men and women down through the ages. They have sought the secrets of the Magi, and the hidden knowledge of the Mystery Religions, the Kabalah, Gnosticism, Alchemy, Rosacrucianism, Theosophy, and Freemasonry. In every instance, their desire for wisdom and secret knowledge has led them away from the simple truths contained in the Holy Scriptures. [14]

Every literate person knows the story of Adam and Eve, but most people think it is simply an allegory. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have studied occult literature for years. It is not a pleasant task, and I do not recommend it to others, but it has strengthened my belief in the validity of the Bible because those who hate God believe in the authenticity of the Holy Scriptures. The problem is they choose to interpret them in a different manner.

Last month I noted that Albert Pike wrote Morals and Dogma, which is the most authoritative book available on the beliefs of Freemasonry. I also mentioned that his book was given to every Initiate who completed the 14th Degree, with instructions that it was to be returned to the Lodge upon his death so it wouldn't fall into the hands of nonbelievers. That custom continued until 1974 when another book was substituted because most Masons have difficulty understanding the esoteric writing found in Morals and Dogma.

Albert Pike's statue stands 13 blocks from the White House, and his body is interred in the House of the Temple in Washington, D.C. He codified the 32 degrees of the Scottish Rite, and his writings are the foundation of modern-day Masonry. On pages 566 and 567 of Morals and Dogma he explained the spiritual confrontation that took place in the Garden of Eden. You will have difficulty understanding this passage because it is designed to confuse you; the secret it contains is reserved for the Elect, and the Princes of Masonry. Read the paragraph several times, then write down what you think it means. Let's see if you can grasp the hidden meaning.

This quotation is taken from the XXVI Degree of the Scottish Rite, and is part of the Introduction to:

The Title of Prince Of Mercy of Scottish Trinitarianism.

". . . the Prince of Darkness . . . made Adam, whose soul was of the Divine Light, contributed by the Eons, and his body of matter, so that he belonged to both Empires, that of Light and that of Darkness. To prevent the light from escaping at once, the Demons forbade Adam to eat the fruit of "knowledge of good and evil," by which he would have known the Empire of Light and that of Darkness. He obeyed; an Angel of Light induced him to transgress, and gave him the means of victory. . . . " [15]

Don't be discouraged if you had difficulty understanding what you just read. Millions of Initiates have examined that passage, but only a few of them have grasped its message. This is an example of esoteric writing. It refers to the writings of Zoroaster, and only those privy to the secret of secrets can understand it.

Who made Adam? According to the Holy Scriptures, God made Adam, so when Albert Pike refers to the Prince of Darkness, he is referring to our God. Here we see a mirror image of the Biblical story of the Garden of Eden; evil is called good, and good is called evil. Remember Isaiah's admonition:

"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!" [16]

Albert Pike stated that Adam's soul came from "the Divine Light." What is the Divine Light? Before Freemasons are inducted into the Blue Lodge, they are told that during their Initiation Ceremony they will be asked what they seek. They are told to reply, "the Light." The problem is that no one ever tells him what "the Light" represents; they are to determine that through their reading and contemplation. As strange as it may seem, the Light that Masons seek is Lucifer, the Light Bearer, although most Masons never discover that truth. Why would anyone want to follow the Prince of Darkness? Because he gives them freedom to do whatever they wish. Under Lucifer, men don't face the restraints contained in the Ten Commandments. Thus, when Albert Pike wrote that Adam's soul came from "the Divine Light," he was referring to the divine light of Lucifer. I will document that fact later in this letter. [17]

Albert Pike stated that Adam:

". . . belonged to both Empires, that of Light and that of Darkness." [18]

The concept of "the Empires of Light and Darkness" is confusing unless you understand what Initiates learn in the XXXII Degree:

"The Occult Science of the Ancient Magi was concealed under the shadows of the Ancient Mysteries: it was imperfectly revealed or rather disfigured by the Gnostics: it is guessed at under the obscurities that cover the pretended crimes of the Templars; and it is found enveloped in enigmas that seem impenetrable, in the Rites of the Highest Masonry.

"Magism was the Science of Abraham and Orpheus, of Confucius and Zoroaster. It was the dogmas of this Science that were engraven on the tables of stone by Hanoch and Trismegistus. Moses purified and re-veiled them, for that is the meaning of the word reveal. He covered them with a new veil, when he made . . . the Holy Kabalah. . . ." [19]

Here we learn that the occult beliefs (science) of the Magi were hidden in the Mystery Religions, modified by the Gnostics, and incorporated into the religion of the Templars. To understand those beliefs, Initiates must grasp the significance of the "Rites of the Highest Masonry" which are concealed in "enigmas," and "seem impenetrable." In other words, the secrets of the Magi are concealed within the Rites of the highest degrees of Masonry and are difficult to understand. If Initiates search and study, they may learn them. Albert Pike explained that the beliefs of the Magi were incorporated into the religions established by both Confucius and Zoroaster. Zoroaster taught that there are two forces in the world, one a good God, the other an evil God, sometimes called "the Demon." Masons teach that the good God represents Light, the evil God represents Darkness, and since the beginning of time there has been an ongoing battle between the Empire of Light and the Empire of Darkness. [20] The hierarchy of Masonry follow Lucifer, who they believe is the good God because he promises them freedom from the restrictions imposed by the evil God, Jesus Christ. When Lucifer rules, his followers can become like gods, and control the world. This is a mirror image of what the Bible teaches.

This information will help you understand the remainder of Albert Pike's explanation of the events that took place in the Garden:

". . . Adam, whose soul was of the Divine Light, contributed by the Eons, and his body of matter, so that he belonged to both Empires, that of Light and that of Darkness." [21]

Albert Pike claimed that Adam's soul came from the Divine Light, Lucifer, and that his physical body came from matter that had been created by our God. Thus Adam belonged to both the Empire of Light, Lucifer's Kingdom, and the Empire of Darkness, God's Kingdom.

". . . To prevent the light from escaping at once, the Demons forbade Adam to eat the fruit of "knowledge of good and evil," by which he would have known the Empire of Light and that of Darkness." [22]

In this passage we find that our God (the Demons) wanted "to prevent the light from escaping at once." In other words, our God didn't want Adam's sinful nature released because it would lead him away from Eden. Adepts use capital letters to deify the meaning of words. Here we find that, "the Demons forbade Adam to eat the fruit "of the knowledge of good and evil." The term "Demon" comes from the teachings of Zoroaster and refers to our God. Why is it Demons rather than Demon? Because Albert Pike recognized the existence of the Trinity. God obviously didn't want Adam and Eve to gain hidden knowledge and become corrupt, so He told them not to eat from the tree of knowledge. Lucifer's followers claim that God wants to restrict our pleasure, and that by rejecting Him they can be free to do whatever they wish. They are wrong. Freedom is not the ability to do what we want to do; freedom is the ability to do what we should do according to God's laws. Without restraints, there is no true freedom.

Initially Adam obeyed God:

"He obeyed; an Angel of Light induced him to transgress, and gave him the means of victory. . . ." [23]

Once again we see a mirror image of the story of the Garden of Eden. Here "an Angel of Light," the serpent, Lucifer, convinced Adam to transgress, and "gave him the means of victory." What was Adam's victory? He was free of God's restrictions, and could do whatever he pleased. At that point he became his own god.

In this passage, Lucifer is the good God, and our Lord is the evil God, also known as the Demons. Masons are told their lives are to be a journey in search of the Light. On page 252 of Morals and Dogma we find:

". . . the Supreme Being is a centre of Light whose rays or emanations pervade the Universe; for that is the Light for which all Masonic journeys are a search, and of which the sun and moon in our Lodges are only emblems: that Light and Darkness, chief enemies from the beginning of Time, dispute with each other the empire of the world. . . ." [24]

To validate the heretical belief that Lucifer is the Light Bearer, I quote from page 321 of Morals and Dogma. There Albert Pike used capital letters and italics to draw attention to the words that reveal the "Secret of Secrets."

". . . LUCIFER, the Light-bearer! Strange and mysterious name to give to the Spirit of Darkness! Lucifer, the Son of the Morning! Is it he who bears the Light, and with its splendors intolerable blinds feeble, sensual, or selfish Souls? Doubt it not! for traditions are full of Divine Revelations and Inspirations. . . ." [25]

Albert Pike proclaimed that LUCIFER is the Light-bearer, the Spirit of Darkness, and the Son of the Morning. He wrote LUCIFER in all capital letters, and capitalized the first letters of the Spirit of Darkness, and the Son of The Morning to denote divinity. Then he proclaimed that Lucifer is the Light that Masons seek, and that traditions are full of Divine Revelation and Inspirations. He asked "Is it he," denoting Lucifer, "who bears the light?" He answered his question by exclaiming, "Doubt it not!"

Now you know the "Secret of Secrets," but Freemasonry is not our only adversary. Many other organizations are working to establish a world government and a world religion. I will discuss several of them next month.

Yours in Christ,

Stanley Monteith, M.D.
